Steven Siow

Principal Architect/Managing Director

Steven started his career in 1989 as an Architect with Edwin Choo & Partners Architects, where he gained architectrual experience in designing and managing school developments and resort hotel projects.

Steven founded SHING DESIGN ATELIER in 1995, moving on over the years to a diverse range of architectural projects: Residential projects, conservation projects, industrial buildings, schools, resort hotel, commercial complexes, town planning and project management of retail development.

Steven believes in creating imaginative and stimulating architectural spaces that not only delight and entertain, more importantly, they must also serve the function that they were intended for. This objective has continued to drive the approach to all projects undertaken.

Sukaimi Surir

Associate Architect

Sukaimi started his architectural career in 1989. He worked the traditional way, starting with a firm grounding in the technicalities of architecture as a draughtsman. This fundamental grounding launched his journey for the next stage of his architectural career.

Developing a profound interest in architectural design, he left for Sydney in 1995 to further his studies. He believes that the realisation of any form of good architecture lies in creating spaces that evoke human senses through the understanding of the culture of place and its people, integrated with the use of appropriate materials and building technologies.

Ken Soo Lee Chong

Project Manager/Wayfinding & Signage Consultant

At the initial phase of his career, Ken attained 15 years of experience in various architectural practices carrying out the full spectrum of architectural and interior design consultancy services. From 2001, he was with the LTA Architecture department for 13 years as the key transit signage specialist for Wayfinding and Signage in public transit infrastructure.

Under the auspices of SPRING Singapore and BCA Silver Industry Steering Committee, he chaired the committee responsible for drafting the first Singapore Standard for Wayfinding Signage in Public Areas (SS 599:2014). He continues to take a keen interest in educating the industry in his specialty by conducting regular seminars for BCA. He is also BCA-certified Universal Design Assessor.

Gabriel Soh Weng Soon

Assistant Architect

Gabriel graduated from the University of Tasmania (AU), with a Masters of Architecture Degree, he embarked on his architectural journey as an Urban Designer before returning to Singapore and had gained valuable experiences encompassing design, submissions to authorities as well as project management collaborating with the various disciplines. Gabriel believes that the orchestration of Architecture should provide an armature for community life whilst creating space for dedicated uses, and this should composite the spatial, temporal and social aspects of its environment.

Willen Tan Woei Earn

Assistant Architect

Willen received his bachelor degree in Housing Building & Planning (Architecture) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. He gained his experience in architecture work while working in Penang before he decided to move to Singapore.
During the year, Willen handled various kinds of architectural projects including residential, commercial & conservation projects. He also participated in a few architectural competitions to test on new concepts and ideas that he have. Besides, he is enthusiastic about heritage and ancient building architecture.

Candrika Adri Tjo

Assistant Architect

Rika received her undergraduate degree in Architecture from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia in 2009. She moved to Singapore right after and had been loving the bustling city since then. In Singapore, she worked on residential, industrial, institutional projects. Rika thinks that it is the social responsibility of an architect to influence, by good design, the human movement, behaviour, and well-being of the user of the space. A fans of Tadao Ando's work, she believes that an architect is like a storyteller. The space, structure, and the material are the medium for our narrative. After work, she loves to spend time learning new skills and savouring good food.

Stefana Elena Costa

Assistant Architect

Stefana received her bachelor degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara in 2015. She has worked as a junior architect in Romania for more than 3 years. In September 2018 she enrolled in The Romanian Order of Architects final exam and got her full license as Architect. Her main focus was on residential and commercial architecture and design. During this time, she developed her skills in designing using different software platforms and on the site project coordination. When working on the design of a structure, she is always focused on creating the best living experience combined with the best functionality.

Fiona Leong

Admin Assistant

Fiona obtained Bachelor of Business (Honour) in 2015, majoring in Marketing. She joined Shing Design Atelier Pte Ltd in 2017 helping out administrative works. Outside of work, she enjoy doing pottery.
