Steven Siow

Principal Architect/Managing Director

Steven started his career in 1989 as an Architect with Edwin Choo & Partners Architects, where he gained architectrual experience in designing and managing school developments and resort hotel projects.

Steven founded SHING DESIGN ATELIER in 1995, moving on over the years to a diverse range of architectural projects: Residential projects, conservation projects, industrial buildings, schools, resort hotel, commercial complexes, town planning and project management of retail development.

Steven believes in creating imaginative and stimulating architectural spaces that not only delight and entertain, more importantly, they must also serve the function that they were intended for. This objective has continued to drive the approach to all projects undertaken.

Sukaimi Surir

Associate Architect

Sukaimi started his architectural career in 1989. He worked the traditional way, starting with a firm grounding in the technicalities of architecture as a draughtsman. This fundamental grounding launched his journey for the next stage of his architectural career.

Developing a profound interest in architectural design, he left for Sydney in 1995 to further his studies. He believes that the realisation of any form of good architecture lies in creating spaces that evoke human senses through the understanding of the culture of place and its people, integrated with the use of appropriate materials and building technologies.

Ken Soo Lee Chong

Project Manager/Wayfinding & Signage Consultant

At the initial phase of his career, Ken attained 15 years of experience in various architectural practices carrying out the full spectrum of architectural and interior design consultancy services. From 2001, he was with the LTA Architecture department for 13 years as the key transit signage specialist for Wayfinding and Signage in public transit infrastructure.

Under the auspices of SPRING Singapore and BCA Silver Industry Steering Committee, he chaired the committee responsible for drafting the first Singapore Standard for Wayfinding Signage in Public Areas (SS 599:2014). He continues to take a keen interest in educating the industry in his specialty by conducting regular seminars for BCA. He is also BCA-certified Universal Design Assessor.

Tan Toon Cheng


Toon Cheng received her undergraduate degree at NUS and in 2011 graduated with a Master’s degree in architecture from Japan, at the University of Tokyo. During her course, she was exposed to sustainable ways of designing and working with materiality. Through the years, she has been involved in different scales of projects and has gained valuable experience working with consultants from different fields. She enjoys bringing out the spatial potential of both space and material, and exploring new methodologies of building systems. For leisure, she takes delight both in exploring Singapore, and cycling.

Lim Tze Yang

Assistant Architect

Graduated from The University of Melbourne (M. Arch), Tze Yang was recruited into SHING DESIGN ATELIER as an assistant architect in 2012. Throughout these years, he has had the opportunity to be involved in projects of different typologies which enabled him to understand spatial requirements, design challenges and regulatory requirements of different building types. He is versatile and ever ready to accept new challenges.

Prachi Chauhan

Assistant Architect

Prachi received her undergraduate degree in Architecture from NIT Hamirpur, India and in 2012 she graduated with a Master of Science in Integrated Sustainable Design from NUS. During her course-work she learnt to advocate synergy and calls for fast paced strategic thinking. She has 3 years of prior work experience in New Delhi before moving to Singapore. Over the years of work she gained valuable experience in collaborating across various disciplines within and outside the scope of the design industry. She strives to integrate practical and functional aspects of design with humanistic values in architecture.

Rahul Madhani

Assistant Architect

Rahul Madhani completed his under-graduate degree in architecture in Pune, India at the Allana College of Architecture. He then worked in India for 2 year before moving to Singapore for his Master’s degree in Integrated Sustainable Design from NUS. In Singapore he has worked with Aedas and Broadway Malyan Architects on various projects in South East Asia. Rahul has a keen interest in design and likes to follow the works of Sir Norman Foster. Apart from work he is an avid cricket fan and plays for a club in Singapore over the weekends.

Jessie Li

Admin Assistant

Jessie obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 2014, majoring in Marketing & Management. She joined Shing Design Atelier Pte Ltd in 2015 helping out administrative works. Outside of work, she enjoys horse-riding and spending time with her dog.
